IMPORTANT: Upgrading from earlier versions of Gallery requires removal of /gallery/ theme folder due to removal of page templates in prior versions of Gallery.
IMPORTANT: Gallery 1.2 only works with Thematic 0.9.5. Make sure to download and upgrade to Thematic 0.9.5 first.
Gallery is a beautiful showcase-style WordPress theme built on the Thematic framework as a child theme.

Widescreen Video Embedding with Simple Video Embedder Plugin
Thanks to Jason Schuller’s easy-to-implement video embedding plugin, Gallery now supports video embedding from popular video sites like YouTube and Vimeo, even allowing you to add your own custom code if not supported. This is an awesome addition to Gallery and I even created a new icon for posts with video so you can differentiate between regular posts and video posts. You will want to download Simple Video Embedder from Press75.com to take advantage of this beautiful plugin. I believe it is also available from WordPress.org, so you can install this via the WordPress admin, just search for the title and off you go.
Theme Options
The theme options page currently allows modification of the number of days a post is considered “new.” This is currently the only option, but will be expanded upon in future releases.
Congrats Chris! Great work and superb SM featured it in their network!

Great work Chris! I love your theme!
Great work Chris!
I will test it on my page.
You know you really should include a permalink to the theme post on Smashing Magazine.
I have updated it. When I originally wrote this post, I set it to publish overnight, so I didn’t have a permalink to use yet. Got it now though.

@jim Make sure you’ve also downloaded and added the Thematic theme from themeshaper.com. It is required for the use of the Gallery theme.
thank you very much Chris ! you did me a great favor.

I´ve got the same problem as Jim above, I have uploaded the thematic theme and can choose it for my theme but when i upload gallery, the gallery theme is broken. “missing stylesheet and template file” Have I uploaded the gallery theme in the wrong spot, should it be inside the thematic folder or something?

Chris, this is your best theme so far. Very well done.
That’s a nice theme!!
Great!
Like it!
It’s telling you the thematic files are not being found from the Gallery theme. Are you updated to the latest version of WordPress?
I honestly don’t know what might be causing the issue. As long as you are using a current version of WP and the themes are sitting next to each other in the /wp-content/themes/ folder, you should be fine.

Very nice theme. Only issue I am experiencing is with Firefox 3.01 on both Windows and Mac. It just does not display the comment correct. The comment for the blog images when clicked appear partially over the larger image. Any suggestions to fix this welcome.
Also IE 6 does not like your theme It shows all funcky….
Other than that like it very much
@Max I have already been working on fixes for a lot of the issues, even the IE6 defects. Release coming soon!
This theme is great…I just have one issue, though: the “ico-new-trans.png” gets cut off at the top of the blog entry picture. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks and great job!
@wings: It has to do with the ‘nav-above’ div directly above the post thumbnails. By default, ‘nav-above’ is set to display:hidden on the homepage, so the overlapping new-icons are being hidden. Once the display is changed or you add a margin to avoid overlapping, you’ll be all set.
@Chris: This theme is fantastic.
@David Carson Thanks David. For everyone interested, I will be releasing a new version with custom write panels, full IE6 compatibility, and bugfixes galore (the new icons are fixed in the update, among other fixes). I will be testing the changes this evening and allow some people who have already implemented the theme to test it out before I release the new version.

Awesome theme but I seriously need help getting this thing to work right. Looking forward to the new version.
This is a genuinely fantastic theme and perfect for the showcase site I’m about to launch, so great timing!
As a new site, I won’t be able to get BuySellAds approval just yet. However, is it possible to use that space to easily place ’standard’ 125×125 adverts, using existing stylesheet?
I’ve got a problem with the “new” at the bottom of new images. It’s cutted. (you can see it on my website)
How can I fix it?
Hey Chris, I’m testing your excellent theme on localhost. Just followed SM instructions to upload and post pictures. Well, if you create a post and those custom fields and enter the URL “/wp-content/uploads/…” in both of them you WON’T see the thumbnail. Why? ‘Cause you need the ABSOLUTE URL for this one (not for the other one).
http://is.gd/x33G
QUESTION: is there any plugin to generate both thumnbail and fill image using the WP image uploader??
Hi Chris!
I would like to know how to change the settings on the “NEW” buton/tag. On my blog it appears on all post. How can i change this?
@Taty, I am working on releasing version 1.1, which should eliminate that problem. Also, for the thumbnail generation, I may add timthumb, which is a script that generates a thumbnail on the fly, but I’m not sure yet how to best add that, as an option or as a core function. I’ll continue to work on it.
@Joan Dajer The new icon shows for all post less than 3 days old. This can be changed in the functions.php file. The function is commented out. I hope to move this into a custom “options” page in the admin panel, but with the way Thematic works, this wasn’t easy to do for version 1.0.
@Chris
Damn! Beat me to the answer to Joan’s question! *shakes fist* LOL
Hey, thanks! What a great and fast answer to my question. I’ll be waiting for the update. Also, another question if don’t mind. How can i add the line for advertisement?
Thank you for the unique theme!
I’d like to include my links in the index-top area in a horizontal orientation - to mimic the BuySellAds widget oriented along the top at mixcss. Right now, they appear vertically. Is there a way to change this?
Thanks!!
As I’m still working, one more question.
I see it has been discussed above twice that the “New” tag can be cropped if ‘now-above’ is set to hidden on the homepage. If this can be fixed by changing the spacing, or by setting the ‘now-above’ to something else - how, exactly? I’ve taken a careful look at the stylesheet and don’t see an obvious solution.
Thanks alot, the theme is working very well.
Last one. The twitter this function automatically generates via @mixcss. Can I change this?

I found one syntax error in your gally.js file. On row 35-36 there is :
jQuery(’.ie6 #footer .widgetcontainer:nth-child(3n+1),.ie7 #footer .widgetcontainer:nth-child(3n+1)’).style({

it sohuld be:
jQuery(’.ie6 #footer .widgetcontainer:nth-child(3n+1),.ie7 #footer .widgetcontainer:nth-child(3n+1)’).css({

});
Keep uo the good work!
Yep, it has been updated and will be included in the next release.
Thanks for gallery realy elegant.

Hello there guys, first of all Gallery its a great theme and just what that i need thx for the great work Chris.
Second, I have a new WP installation and already upload both themes (gallery and thematic) to the themes folder in my site.
Everything seems to works fine except when I see a sinlge article theres a message top in the page with this:
Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/vubaa/domains/inneremotions.tv/public_html/wp-content/themes/gallery/single.php on line 7Warning: file_get_contents(http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Finneremotions.tv%2F%3Fp%3D1) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /home/vubaa/domains/inneremotions.tv/public_html/wp-content/themes/gallery/single.php on line 7

Chris Wallace has released a new Free WordPress Theme called Gallery info @ http://bit.ly/YCfiW
This comment was originally posted on Twitter
Hi Chris, first off thank you so much! This theme is exactly what I’m looking for. Running in to a couple things. When testing out my site I click a thumbnailed post on the front page and the post page comes up and the following in on top:
Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in D:\Hosting\4336593\html\wp-content\themes\gallery\single.php on line 7
Warning: file_get_contents(http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdwaynecossey.com%2F%3Fp%3D59) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in D:\Hosting\4336593\html\wp-content\themes\gallery\single.php on line 7
I don’t know what that is all about. Also no matter what kind of file I upload for the 500×375 full image (jpg,png,gif) it is pixelated and doesn’t look good at all. The thumb is perfect but the full image sucks.
If you have any insight into whats going on, that would be awsome.
Thanks,
Dewey

I too had the same problem with the “single.php on line 7″ comment. To make it go away find “wp-content\themes\gallery\single.php on line 7″; it’s in the “single.php” file on line 7 on your server and comment it out like this.
/*
$shortenedurl = file_get_contents(’http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=’ . urlencode(get_permalink()));
*/
If your line of code doesn’t look like mine don’t worry just comment out line 7 in “single.php” file.
This should do the trick.

Hi, After using the gallery theme for a week, I’m still very happy with it. Thank you!
I posted a couple of comments earlier. I just upgraded to 1.1, and the upgrade resolved several issues - including the spacing for the “New” images, and images - which appear much more reliably in the upgraded theme. Thanks again!
I have one - big - request. In the original release of gallery - the gallery thumbnails shifted up when the cursor moved over them, to reveal the title of the post. This was an excellent feature and really added to the functionality of the theme. Without it, the viewer has no way of knowing what the thumbnail will lead to - and is much less likely to click-through. I would love it if this feature could be incorporated again into future upgrades and/or info on which elements in Gallery 1.0 controlled this feature could be posted here.
Related - transparent images used for the thumbnail did not “show through” with the title beneath - as they do in the upgrade.

Claire, I see you fixed the jQuery Hove Effect.. can you tell me how you did it? Thanks!!
Hi Josh,
I’m not sure why the issue is resolved, but I can describe what I did. When I first uploaded the upgrade, it was as “Gallery.1″. On my theme chooser, however, I couldn’t tell the difference between the upgrade and the original theme child. So, I decided I’d remove the older version. I downloaded that to my hard drive to save the little modifications I’d made, and then deleted “gallery” from my themes folder.
As I described, the upgrade has been ally better with reliably displaying the images - especially the large ones. But, I was frustrated about the loss of the preview option, so I considered going back to the original version. I re-uploaded that to my themes folder, and activated the original version. I checked some of my posts, and the problem with the large images was still there… So, I decided the upgrade was, in fact, the way to go. I switched my theme back to the upgrade and - ??? - the preview function now works?
I guess maybe both folders are being used? Anyway, I’m thrilled it’s working and very happy with the theme - much thanks to the developer!
Hope that helps.
I found out just after I posted here! The link to the Javascript-files were absolute, instead of relative. So if your Theme-folder isn’t named Gallery (i.e. Gallery-1 in my case) the .js files aren;t loaded:)
Chris thanks again, also the hover-effect is almost addictive nice;)

Great theme! I wish I can use it with my blog, but it would be too much of a theme change from my current one. If there was a such thing as a “page” or “post” gallery, that would be great.
Chris, your theme is great, but some questions that would be great if you can answer:
1. Can the theme use automated thumbnail resizing, it just seems a pain to have to upload 2 pictures for every entry?
2. Can you create an actual blog page as well as the gallery?
3. How to add a sidebar into the theme?
4. How to add a mousever effect when placing a cursor over an image to give some information?
I am currently using egallery from elegantthemes, but I like your theme and would prefer to move my site to this. Just elegant themese have some nice features as well with featured site in the sidebar etc.
Very impressed with what you have done and would actually pay for a good theme like this. If you can help with the above then would be great and then I can install the theme. I am planning on trying to use this as a directory.
Love the theme ! Please add a blog page and the possiblility to add the last picture like a photoblog f.e. 950×600 px
I was working on a Wordpress blog using your theme for the last week. It is wonderful. I hope that you will like how I used it. My site is the gallery of sport logos and of course I am keeping the link to your site in the footer. I really love that theme and keep on doing good work! Thanks.
My site is on a free server so it may sometimes take some time to load it. Paid hosting is planned in future.

Does anyone know how to edit the html that is automatically created when adding a new thumbnail post in Gallery? What I am trying to do is when a user selects one of the thumbnails I would like to bypass directing them to the standard page and to automatically launch a gallery of images using the “Shadowbox JS” plugin for WP. This way I can use the site as a portfolio alone. Does this make sense?
Thanks for your help. Great theme Chris.

I like the design of Monochrome Gallery the best. I haven’t used it, but I prefer the simple clean design to some of the others.
I’m not too thrilled with a white font color over a black background because this is too tough on the eyes. I hope those designs don’t use white letters on a black background for every page.
But I do know a simple way around this if you don’t like reading white letters over a black background: press Ctrl plus A on your keyboard, and this selects the text and creates black letters over a white background. Just a tip.

Love the theme! As soon as I saw it on Smashing Magazine, thought it was amazing… scalability of it is great too! Congrats!
Quick question - I’m looking to embed portrait images as well as landscape, but right now they’re all being resized to fit the 500×375. I’ve tried to find the code that’s doing that automatically, and falling flat on finding. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
I am having trouble adding gallery items to the theme. I have read through all the comments here and saw one person who was having the same issue but fixed it by deleting the first slash in the link to the image “/wp-content/uploads/image-125×125.jpg” I tried that but it did not work for me. The image shows up in the post but not in the default image box. Any help?
wow nice and intresting
Hi Chris, first - a great theme
but I’ve found a bug
it has issues with child categories and child pages
for example , if you have a Page called portfolio which is the parent to 5 other pages, only 2 are shown (with the nice slide effect) on the top navigation
If you have a Category for your blog posts (or gallery) again say portfolio with child categories ‘video’ and ‘tv’ then they appear as a drop down to portfolio (found by the home HOUSE button) but with no background, not vertically aligned, also any other top level categories are shunted across on the rollover
John, you’ve found my dirty little secret. I definitely should have included styles for drop-downs/child categories, but honestly, I didn’t have a lot of time to work on that before the initial release. I will definitely work to get that in the next release. Thanks for mentioning it here.
I found there is a bug when view the theme using IE 8 , the scroll bar for each post won’t appear?
Can you offer any advice?
Thank you.

Is it posible to replace the larger image with a .SWF flash file?
If so, can you advise on which page to add the flash object to?

Hi Chris, great theme! Thanks a ton. I want to adapt this theme to a project I’m working on. I’m new to using Thematic and child themes. If you have some extra time would you be kind enough to give me a few pointers on how to turn this theme into a 3 column layout on the single.php pages and a 2 or 3 column layout on the index.php (home page) page? thanks.
Ok i have been looking into this issue, i have got the flash file now showing on the page, but not in the ‘larger image’ area of this template.
When i view the source code for this page [using the IE option to view source], there is this section of code…
….This is the div where the larger image is, but as you can see, i have tried just entering the path of my .SWF file directly into the field in the ‘edit posts’ that should be the field for the larger image file, a jpeg.
…Because it is expecting a jpeg file, it automatically adds the field value into an ‘img src’ tag. This is why it fails for me.
I need to locate where this file is exactly in the WP file set, so i can download it, change that code above from the ‘img src’ to a ‘object’ syntax, so that it can load the .SWF successfully.
I hope this makes more sense to what im trying to acheive, and that someone can advice me where these posts are stored, in order to d/l them for editing outside of the default Wordpress editor, as that editor only allows you to define the value of the jpeg file, not change it completely so that it is referencing a flash file instead.

Chris thanks so much for an awesome theme. Would it be possible to use PayPal / Shopping Cart with this (plugin perhaps). This is the most perfect theme to use I am just looking for that one tweak. Thanks again!
Chris, I have downloaded the latest version 1.1.1 and have uploaded both the theme and thematic to the theme directory but when trying to activate the theme it is getting this error:
Stylesheet is missing.
Gallery, a Thematic child theme Template is missing.
I have downloaded and checked every file and counted they uploaded properly via FTP and can’t see any problems with the upload…. Does the latest version 1.1.1 have an error and missing files ?
daniel make sure you have he latest version of thematic installed. This should fix it.
Chris, is there anyway to add a righ hand side colum to add widgets. I wanted to add search and category functionality to a sidebar?
Also - how did you manage to add the ads at the top of your index page above the posting 7 x 125×125 ads ?
What a great theme, thanks!
I hate tech stuff, tech scares me, tech bores me. But I had no issues at all with this,and it looks great!

I think your theme is great I love, but when i use subcategories the menu isn’t working. I don’t know if there is an solution to this. But if there is, it would be nice if someone could tell me.

I thought I could just edit the single.php (add a target=”_blank” after the ‘weburl’ variable), but anything I change in that file doesn’t seem to make a difference on my site. Can someone point me in a better direction?
Thanks for the useful info. It’s so interesting
Hi and thanks for the theme. It´s perfect but i have a problem with the categories. The theme only show 7 categories in the menu.
How can i fix it???

Hey Chris

I want to update wordpress to 2.8. What is happening with gallery after update?

Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to get the logo area (when clicked) to go to a different URL than the root? I know its something in the header, and then subsequently related to “thematic_header()” and functions.php
I am totally stuck. Since I am using the gallery in a directory within my main site, I would like the logo at the top left to go back to the main site instead of to the grid gallery index.
Thanks!
I just checked the mixcss.com website on Internet Explorer 8 and the page is missing the scroll bar. How can I fix this issue? or was there a fix for this already?
Hi, I’m wondering if there’s a way to add additional multiple full images (photos full size) to the post. So the thumbnail would act as a photo album link rather than a single image. I’ve tried to add multiple full-image custom fields, but to no avail. I’m newbie and any help would be awesome. I love this theme, thanks in advance.
The file size can be changed in single.php, just do a search for “375″. You can change the description in the Admin window in the functions.php file, again look for “375″
Hi! I really like this template! And I would like to use it, but after downloading I receive a message saying template missing… Any help?
Thanks for the theme. It worked like a gem till i upgraded it to wordpress 2.8.
However the real culprit may be the new version of WP-PostRatings. The stars in “Highest Rated” are all gone and there are few small bugs as well.
After checking the changelog for WP-PostRatings i saw that Lester renamed few files. Can you guide is in the right direction as to what changes should we make in order to keep the highest rated think, work in the same way it was designed as….Thanks
* Edit : Can you guide us in the right direction as to what changes should we make in order to keep the highest rated thing, work in the same way, it was designed as….Thanks
Hi…I love this template very much, thank you Chris for your superb design. Is it compatible with wordpress 2.8?
Damien, if you are getting that ‘template missing’ message when trying to activate this theme, it might be that you hadn’t downloaded the Thematic Theme Framework that you also need.
This Gallery Theme requires the Thematic Theme Framework in order to work, its on the SmashingPumpkins page under the install instruction.
You can get the Thematic Theme Framework from http://themeshaper.com/thematic/
And you just place that in the same directory as the Gallery Theme, then when you are picking your theme from the Wordpress Admin Control Panel you should be able to activate the Gallery successfully.
..You might have already downloaded this and are getting this error for another reason, but i know without the Thematic you can get a similar error.
SmashingPumpkin …. SmashingMagazine …. easy mistake to make
Hi there, is there a plan to include in a future version, the possibility to run a blog under the same installation with this theme?
So that you can specify on the admin page, whether an article is going to be a Blog post or a Portofolio Item.
Then all the blog posts could be displayed on a separate page that could be displayed at administrator’s choice as Home page, or secondary page.
I can help building the templates, but have no skills to do the PHP part.
Cheers…

It looks like a great theme. Unfortunately I was not able to get it working in Wordpress 2.8, I guess it is not compatible with 2.8.
I got various errors in the single.php file. When I resolved the line 7 issue I got another in line 11.
I was not able to get any picture, both full size and thumbnail to show on the gallery. I did everything via the instructions but it just did not want to work.
I give up and will look for another similar template. I may come back when it is confirmed to be 2.8 compatible.

Such a great theme, Chris! I am having a problem, though. When I click on the square for a post, I get the not found page. Same thing happens when I try to pull it up in search. It’ll give me the title and excerpt, but can’t call up the page. The URL is correct when I roll over the links. Can you help? On WP 2.8.1. Thanks!

How can I resize the thumbnails? I’ve looked all over the code and can’t seem to find it….
Re: My previous comment. Permalink issue. I was missing a /.
I have another question though… Is there a way to limit the thumbs called up on the homepage to only ones with a certain tag? (Like Featured, or New?)
Hi Chris, perfect work with this theme.
I’ve an error with it in WP 2.8:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function p75getvideo() in wp-content/themes/gallery/functions.php on line 96
Could you said something about it? Thnks
Ivan, i think it has to do with the new version file on this site, chris solved that problem. I guess you need to redownload the file again.
Thnks Andrew. I’m on it.

I’d like to include my links in the index-top area in a horizontal orientation – to mimic the BuySellAds widget oriented along the top at mixcss. Right now, they appear vertically. Is there a way to change this?
Index top seems to go down the page two 125×125 images wide and not across.
How do i get 7 125×125 ads across the top and bottom of the page?
This is an awesome theme. Congrats! I’m playing around with it and was wondering how I could have different size thumbs on the index page instead of all uniform size. Ive tried but I keep duplicating posts. I did however manage to add another size but it shows up as a duplicated of the original. Can you help?
Almost everything was fixed with the upgrade (1.2.1) This theme is a bit of inspiration. I used it to build my own theme in Inspirez Moi and it was helpfull. Thank you very much.
Hi there
First of all I would like to thank Chris for a great child theme! I use it on my journalist portfolio which is in Danish (I’ve also submitted my translation of the theme). I have some questions though.
I was wondering if it was possible to add a speech bubble right above the “menu-bg-trans.png” and widgetize it so it is possible to use i.e. a Twitter-plugin to show my latest tweet. See an example of what it might look like here
Ps. I don’t know any .php so a thorough guide would be great!
Hi. I have some questions:
1. how do you add the stumble upon button to the posts
2. how can I show only the social bookmarking button and hide the link?
thank you
My guess is don’t fill up that field and it won’t show that particular information.

Chris, just awesome work man, many kudos to you. I wish I had the knowledge to design as you do. One question? How can I add vertical images as well as horizontal when a user clicks the thumbnail? I am getting vertical images stretched out and distorted.
Thanks!!
Hi Chris,
This work great for m implementing photoblog, great job.
I found something missing in package. In function.php line 35 which is <?php missing . it cause home icon can’t click.
Cheer,
Chris - awesome work.
I’ve been using the Gallery template for a while and love it. I’d like to update to the newest version, however, I altered the original functions.php and styles.css, so I’m a bit afraid to replace these.
Two questions though - I can’t seem to locate how to update the page titles. I’d like more info in the page title rather than just the blog entry title.
Second question - the functions for the author.php seems to be broken. The entry-content div is being forced into a small width, causing the next blog entry to then float next to it. This is true on the MixCSS.com site. Any idea on fixing it?
how do you change the amount of boxes? for example its showing 7 boxes across and i see many people made it 4 or 5 boxes across and larger. i cannot find how to do that. anyone can help me please? thank you.
Mike - in order to change the number of boxes per row, you’ll need to either make the thumbnail images larger (physically as well as in the CSS and the PHP files for index, tags, categories) or you can just add a lot of left and right padding between them in the CSS. I myself did it be making the thumbnails 226 wide (no adjustment to padding). This makes four images across. I then updated the index.php, tags.php, categories.php and styles.css. Wherever there was a “125″ for width that pertained to “thumbnail”, I changed the width setting to 226. I hope this helps.
Thanks Peter - I am going to try it out and hope I dont mess up too much! Can I take a look at your site? Whats the URL?
Pete, I tried looking in the files you mentioned and other than the styles.css file, the other files you mention don’t have anything about 125. I am using the latest version of Gallery.
Can someone maybe send me the files and I can just cut and paste them into WP?
Thanks
Sorry, mike. I forgot to mention my directions relate to pre-1.0 version of Gallery. I believe with the new version, you should only need to edit the CSS file and the functions.php. Functions has all those other previous pages built into it.
thank Pete. I am still playing around with it. Looks like Chris is getting a newer version ready that will make this process easier shortly - per his Twitter message a few hours ago.
Yep, sorry guys for my absence here, I’ve been extremely busy lately. However, I have definitely been listening to all the issues and complaints so far. The new version will take care of quite a few of the repeated issues mentioned on this thread.
Thanks for you patience as I get these issues worked out!
Chris, THANK YOU!!! for all your hard work - it is very much appreciated
chris, any estimate when new version will be relaeased?
The new version will have two themes built into one, the original dark grey version and a new light version (which has been requested a ton) and will also make it easier to have a 100% automated submission process (which I’ve set up on MixCSS.com). I say ‘make it easier’ because it will still require a third-party plugin but I will make sure to provide instructions on setting it all up. If you want to see the setup for MixCSS, check out this page and also take note of the larger thumbnails on the homepage, this is the new version of the theme in action.
Timeframe is about a week or two. Sorry, got carried away.
AWESOME!
Will it have a search box? I am looking to place a search box on the top of each page.
help! only the top line of boxes, the “new” red letters is getting cut off at the top. what can I do to correct this.? thanks

hi chris. when will the new version be available for download? i mean the one with the bigger thumbnails and the automated submission. thanks. i can’t wait.
Hey, so need a little help, since there is so many css’s im gettin confused i actually dont know how to do this. So..
You know the title? In your theme image “Snails”.
Well if i just inserted a video thats only 500px wide, the title stays over to the right, how do i move it more to the left, over beside the video?
Example:
http://imanto.com/ul/271qzv.png
I want to move the title over to the left.
Hello there! It is a great theme, I just have one problem, which you also seem to have. On a page, like ‘about’, the searchbox is bigger than the container it is in! I am watching it in firefox, and do not know where to reduce the width of the searchbox! I hope you can help….
I finally got my problem fixed. The video plugin was over writting the size of the box, therefore it was playing around with the margins, but i fixed it.
To answer your question about the search.
In your style.css in the gallery folder:
Find:
.aside{
width: 270px
Change the 270 to 290 - because this code is so messed up its really unbelieveable i dont know where to find the search..
I love the theme, a great look. I just wish it was a stand alone theme and not a thematic sub.
@Eric me to man. Being a child theme of thematic sucks ass. The code is all over the place.
Chris - just want to thank you again for your hard work. Sorry to see that some people here forget that you’re doing this for FREE. But many of us do appreciate your dedication regardless of their statements.
I for one see no problem with it being a child theme. It makes complete sense to build it off an established framework. If you want a non-child theme, there are plenty out there in exchange for some green.
Im Already editing it so its just a stand alone. Makes no since to install 2 themes when you van just install one.
Your right.
sweet! this theme is cool! I can use this for my gallery wp sites. thanks for creating and releasing this
@ eric
thanks for the help. I couldn’t find it eather. If you do manage to convert this to just one theme, I’d be more than exited to hear about it (find me at the info@ of my website)!
@Leo - if you need to reduce the width of the search button, you can do this in the styles.css. It is ‘input[type="submit"], input[type="button"], button’. I would suggest reducing the padding from “3px 18px” to “3px 8px” (or another size you’re comfortable with). Hopefully that helps.
@Pete Kane
Hes talking about the text area, not the button mate.
So i think this is what he means.
input,select,textarea{width:200px;
}
add a width of 200px
the submit button will stretch also, so add a width of 100px to
input[type="submit"],input[type="button"],
button{
Its going to take a while. This code is so un- organized it don’t even make since. Hell id pay $100 if someone can make it a stand alone theme.
Like i said before, the code is so messed up. But sure, it works. Just needs cleaned up i guess.

Hi Chris, nice theme im using it right now with the simple video embedder plug in and everythin works great! i just have a question, why when i post an entry with a video using that plugin, the dark gray frame in the video looks asimetrical? look here to see what im talking about:
http://hugopalomares.com/?p=163
looks like the left side is being pushed outside of the 940 frame… any ideas on how to fix this? cheers!
ugh, never mind, stupid question, got it fixed. Hey but i was trying out gallery on IE and it changed everything of place, well not everything but the logo and some other things… why’s that?
1 thing you must know. IE Sucks. Thats it.
I mean IE8 it should look fine, because they actually got things right with ie8, but if you want to fix some things up. make another stylesheet, and link to it in your header.php and just throw all the stuff that you want in there, to fix up stuff in ie6 and ie7.
What version of ie are you using?
i use ie7 and it looks fine to me.
Lastly, do anyone know a good flash embedder plug in for gallery? not for flash movies but for actual clickable .swf?
Thanks!
im using ie8. and yes, ms sucks ass. will do what you suggest. and what about a flash plug in? any idea?
the main this think theme needs it to be a stand alone theme itself. its going to be just about impossible to do anything until it is.
Agreed on that Eric. Stand alone theme ftw.
Nice theme Chris, thanks a lot.
But I prefer the theme on your live demo, whose mainbody is a white area and has 3 pics in a row.
Would you kindly make the demo theme downloadable? Thanks!
sssssso, theres no functionable flash plug in fot this theme? i’ve tried kimili and WP-SWFObject but they wont work…
I agree with BRYAN here. Even though I really enjoy the style you’ve given us, I think the demo template is absolutely amazing!

Im sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I am still kind of new. I have been digging through this for about 3 hours now and I cant find where to change the colors of the fonts. I want to change the color of the post title and content. Also the color for the about and rss at the top of the pages. Any help will be much appreciated please!!!
BTW, this is a great theme and thank you!
@ Matt,
This is why this needs to be a stand alone theme.
@Matt
You can quickly change the font colors by adjusting them in the CSS. The post title is an h1 so adjust the font color for h1. For the post body, you’ll need to set a color for “.post p, .entry-content p”. And finally for the links in the very top (such as the RSS), just change the color for “#page-menu”. All of this can be done by updating the style CSS. Hope that helps.
@Pete,
Thanks for the responce, I will try that this evening. I did go through the style.css and changed the background to a custom one I created. I just didn’t know what to look for for the font color. I went through checking the color codes to see if one matched that light grey but couldn’t find it.
Thank you again for all of your help Pete.

is there a reaseon for it or did I oversee something?

@Connie - the primary and secondary asides are widget buckets for Pages, not Posts. That’s why they are loading that way. You could tweak your Single Post PHP file in order to load those buckets.
where is the single post php? i can not find it in the theme files all i see is the function php
@Eric - you’re correct. I was referring to original build. In the new build, it would be in the function PHP. I believe he has a section in there for Posts.

Hei this theme is awesome but I have a little problem with the menu, I can’t use 2 dropdown categories, on of the dropdowns works and the other not.
Please chris if you can help me tell me how can I fix it!
First off, Chris you are wonderful to create and offer this theme for free, thank you !
I’ve sailed the seven seas and hiked the seven wonders of the world seeking a theme for my portfolio. The stars and the moon aligned a few nights ago and I found your ‘gallery’ theme. This will be my 3rd attempt at working with WP and your theme and its content is by far the most intuitive for us n00bs.
I have 2 questions:
1) I want my thumbnails to be 3 across and the same width/length as is found at the mixcss.com site.
I read that I need to make changes to the 125×125’s at function.php and stylesheet.css, but damned if it just ain’t workin’ !?
2) When in ‘full image’ mode, at the lower right, where it has the <>’s, I’m confused as to how the order is determined ? Where do I gain more control of this ?
This is my first time working with posts and categories. In the past I pretty much brute forced my themes into CMS look and feel.
Can you or anyone please help ?
Thanks,
Catherine

hi michelle.
The number of boxes in a row depends on it’s dimensions. So if you have you page width of 940, divide it by the number of boxes you want to have per row. consider pixels between boxes and the 1px of the padding. If you have any other question please e mail me [email protected]

I know this question has been asked on numerous occasions but is there any way to incorporate a blog into the theme? otherwise I might have to resort adding a second theme to my site.
Ya..integrating a blog into this theme would be great, something which transparent to this design.
Most issues mentioned in the comments can be resolved by upgrading to the Gallery Pro theme.
How come my pictures won’t show? What am i doing wrong?
Firstly I want to say thank you to you Chris, this theme is superb I am using it on a website dedicated to Twitter backgrounds, apps etc. I have placed a link on the bottom of the site with a special thanks note. Not sure, what is happening, but I submitted several posts yesterday offering some tweaks and advise on my experiences using Gallery and Thematic, but they have all dropped of the list.
Anyway, I have started a tutorial for installation, adding images and will also roll out modifying colours, images etc, plus adding in additional plugins.

feedback most welcome.
